Quiet Days in Bagaciu
In a Transylvanian village called Bagaciu, there are kids, old people and few streets. With humor and humanity, the filmmaker films daily life and village customs throughout one summer: local administration, religious meeting, medical center, school, festivities, political discussions etc.
This documentary film based on a patient observation unveils the conditions of life of rural gypsies in the periphery of European capitalism after Ceausescu’s times and collectivization, but also in the context of economic crisis.
Beyond daily gestures and past or present circumstances, appears a lyrical film which celebrates the beauty of Romanian countryside and its people. An implicit questioning of modernity.
